Oasys Mini Hollywood began as Yucca City, a Western film set built by Carlo Simi for Sergio Leone's For a Few Dollars More in 1965. More than 100 films used this Tabernas desert location through the 1960s and 70s, including A Fistful of Dollars, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and Lawrence of Arabia. Today the replica town runs gunfight reenactments alongside a zoo of 800 animals.
After the last Leone shoot wrapped, the extras who had played gunslingers and townsfolk bought the abandoned set and began running it as a tourist stop. A hotel group led by Catalan-born hotelier José María Rossell later bought them out, and a local hotel chain still owns the park today. Beyond the Dollars trilogy, the BBC used the town in 2012 for the Doctor Who episode 'A Town Called Mercy', filming here alongside the neighbouring Fort Bravo/Texas Hollywood set. Of the several old Western sets scattered across the Tabernas desert, Mini Hollywood keeps its buildings repainted and best preserved, unlike the more weathered lots nearby.
What you see
Giraffes, lions and zebras roam paddocks behind the false-front saloons and hitching posts lining the dusty main street.
Practical
Gunfight and cowboy stunt shows run several times a day, and the park also has a swimming pool and cactus garden alongside the film sets and zoo.
