Paseo de la fama de Almería

A run of brass stars along Calle Poeta Villaespesa, beside Teatro Cervantes, marks the actors and directors behind Almería's decades as a film backdrop. The Almería City Council laid the first star in 2012, timed to the Almería en Corto short-film festival, and each star follows the Hollywood format: a name, a signature and a handprint pressed into the pavement. The walk has grown past 30 stars, awarded each year during the Almería International Film Festival, and an augmented-reality app lets a visitor call up each actor's biography by pointing a phone at the star. More than 300 international productions have filmed in the province since the 1960s, and the walk collects the names into one street.
