Museo Municipal Ulpiano Checa occupies the Casa de los Siete Patios in Colmenar de Oreja, the painter's birthplace. Opened in 1960 on the centenary of his birth, it holds around 300 of his historical and orientalist works across more than 1,400 square metres, including the 20-metre canvas Last Days of Pompeii.
