Rozhledna Na Podluží

Landmark · Czechia

Checked

A 30-metre steel lookout tower shaped like an oil derrick, built at the end of 2009 on a rise between Nový Poddvorov and Prušánky to commemorate Podluží's history as one of Moravia's most productive oil-producing regions.

More than 150 steps lead up the steel lattice to a platform 30 metres above the vineyards between Nový Poddvorov and Prušánky, on the Podluží cycling network. The climb is deliberate: the tower's frame copies the silhouette of a drilling rig, a nod to Podluží's history as one of Moravia's most productive oil deposits. From the top, the view opens over the floodplain forest to Pálava and the Lednice-Valtice grounds, across the Lower Moravian Basin to the White Carpathians and, on clear days, the Slovak Carpathians beyond. Built at the end of 2009, it is free to enter year-round, with benches, bike racks, and a seasonal ice cream stand at the base.
