The Berliner U-Bahn-Museum occupies the old signal box at Olympia-Stadion station, an electromechanical lever interlocking that from 1931 to 1983 was the largest of its kind in Europe, controlling 99 signals and 103 switches. Saved from demolition by an employee protest in 1983, it has been a museum since 1997, covering more than a century of Berlin underground history through uniforms, ticket machines and a 1950s dispatcher's room.
