Teufelsberg
Berlin
Teufelsberg is a rubble hill built from Berlin's WWII debris, piled over an unfinished Nazi military college and rising to 120 metres, one of the city's highest points. From 1963 the US and UK ran Field Station Berlin here, a Cold War listening post that fed the global ECHELON network. Abandoned after 1990, its domes are now covered in street art, and the summit gives a panoramic view over the Grunewald canopy to the skyline.
