Fuß Sendemast marks the site of Sender Köpenick, a shortwave and mediumwave transmitter that went on air on 6 July 1952 in the forest between Köpenick and Mahlsdorf. Its self-supporting steel mast stood 248 metres tall, insulated from the ground and hydraulically liftable to protect its base isolator from aircraft sonic booms. The mast was demolished in 2002, leaving only its concrete foundation among the trees.
