The Eisfabrik on Köpenicker Straße is one of Germany's oldest surviving ice factories, built for Carl Bolle's Norddeutsche Eiswerke AG, founded in 1872, which began producing artificial ice for food cooling here in 1896. Production continued until 1995. The heritage-protected complex has since been renovated and converted to offices and housing.
