This Baroque palace was built in 1768-1773 for the Bishops of Kuyavia as a summer residence, designed by Italian architect Francesco Placidi on the walls of an earlier 17th-century structure. It passed to state ownership in 1818 and became barracks, then burned during both world wars. Restored in 1950-1961, it has served as an agricultural school since 1967.

Franciszek Placidi, the architect who carved the royal tomb monuments to Jan III Sobieski and Michał Korybut Wiśniowiecki inside Wawel Cathedral, rebuilt the bishops' residence at Wolbórz on the site of an earlier stronghold, first recorded in 1418 and rebuilt again in the 1460s by Bishop Jakub of Sienna. After the bishops lost the estate, the palace passed through use as a military hospital, then as barracks for two companies of the Pułtusk infantry regiment until 1910, and later a base for a youth labor corps. In front of the building stands a 1960 monument of two crossed swords, marking the spot where Władysław Jagiełło is said to have set out for the Battle of Grunwald in 1410. After the war the palace served in turn as an agricultural college, an orphanage and a teacher training school before the current agricultural school moved in, and it keeps a small museum room of Wolbórz mementos inside.
