Stadtpfarrkirche Mariä Himmelfahrt
Attraction · Bad Tölz · Munich
Checked
Bad Tölz's parish church of the Assumption of Mary traces back to a 1262 castle chapel. Fire destroyed it in 1453, and master builder Michael Gugler rebuilt it as a three-aisled Gothic hall church between 1466 and 1490. A neo-Gothic renovation from 1854 to 1877 gave it the 62-metre tower that still defines the town's skyline, the oldest standing building along this stretch of the Isar.
