St. Nikolai-Kirche is a late Gothic brick hall church on Spandau's Reformationsplatz, first documented in 1240 as the merchant town's parish church. In 1539 Elector Joachim II took communion here in bread and wine, converting to the Protestant faith and making the church the Reformation church for Berlin-Brandenburg. Its Baroque tower, added in 1744, was destroyed by a wartime bomb.
