A stone terrace beside the road up Coll de sa Batalla, serving traditional Mallorcan food since 1970 beside a spring-fed pool built out over bare rock. The name comes from Can Guix, the gypsum quarry once worked on this land near Lluc.

Es Guix has become something of an institution for cyclists working their way up Coll de sa Batalla, many of whom treat the pool below the terrace as much a reward as anything on the plate. It was started by an owner who had grown up in this corner of the Tramuntana, on a former estate between Caimari and Lluc. The col itself takes its name from a battle between Moorish holdouts and the first Catalan conquerors, fought here centuries before the road was built. The kitchen builds its Mallorcan cooking on quality local ingredients, Es Trenc sea salt, DO Mallorca olive oil, and PGI-certified Mallorca almonds and olives, backed by a carefully kept wine list. By night, the same terrace turns into an adults-only bar for cocktails, a second life alongside the lunch service that has run here for decades.

Near Coll de sa Batalla's Repsol garage, the legendary refuel stop for Mallorca road cyclists, just before the descent into Lluc.
