Checked

Ca s'Amitger sits at the edge of the Lluc monastery car park, its terrace a regular stop for cycling groups. The name comes from the amitger, the farm steward who ran the sanctuary's estate from this 16th-century house; the restaurant opened in the 1960s and is still called "the round bar" for its circular shape.

The terrace fills with cycling jerseys through the riding season: cycling groups and cycle tourers regularly take over every table, and even at a full house the staff keep the coffee-and-cake orders moving fast and friendly. It's one of four places to eat within the Lluc sanctuary complex, alongside the larger Sa Fonda restaurant, the Font Coberta bar and the coffee-and-sandwich counter at Cafe sa Placa. Lluc itself is Mallorca's most important pilgrimage site, so the crowd at the next table is as likely to be pilgrims on foot as cyclists mid-ride. In summer the kitchen moves outdoors after dark and the terrace runs a different service altogether, a grill night that has nothing to do with the daytime Mallorcan lunch crowd.
