Climbing the short hill above Brada-Rybníček brings you to fragments of curtain wall and two crumbling semi-circular bastions rising above a still-visible moat and earthen rampart, what survives after a stone quarry carved out the castle's core. Founded in the mid-13th century by Načerat of the Ronovci family (first recorded in 1258), it passed to King Václav II in 1304, was held in pledge by the Vartenberk family from 1327, and was granted to Oldřich II of Rožmberk in 1426 after the Hussite wars before falling into ruin by 1500. On the summit plateau stands an 1891 oak cross with statues of Saints Peter and Paul, raised to mark the 1866 Battle of Jičín, which was fought on the saints' feast day; a further stone memorial cross to the war's dead stands at the hill's eastern foot, near a Baroque wooden bell tower and an early Gothic church. The ruin has been protected as a cultural monument since 1964.
