Checked

A family-run cafe on Sobotka's main square known for homemade pastries and cakes made from Petr Tanecek's grandmother's recipes, popular enough that customers drive in from as far as Plzen. Set in a historic building with vaulted ceilings, with a garden terrace and a wide range of coffee specialties.

Petr Tanecek opened Jako Doma in early 2020, finally realizing his own long-held dream of running a cafe after 13 years working as a waiter and restaurant manager. The pastries and cakes are made from his grandmother's recipes, and his mother still helps knead the dough for him. The desserts have built a following well beyond Sobotka, with customers making the trip from as far as Plzen just to eat them. The cafe occupies a historic room on the town square with vaulted ceilings, in a building owned by a former classmate of Tanecek's, and he brings on extra staff through summer when Sobotka's tourist season peaks. Alongside the baking, the menu runs to a wide range of coffee specialties, fresh juice, and ice cream, served inside or out in the garden.
