Climb the short, steep path from Jičín and the reward is a wide panorama across the Bohemian Paradise skyline, the Prachov rocks, Trosky's twin towers, and the ridge castles of Kumburk and Bradlec all visible from one small summit. Zebín itself is a cone-shaped volcanic neck (399 m), its slopes built of columnar breccia thrown up when rising magma met shallow Cretaceous groundwater, with an old quarry cut into its western face. A Baroque chapel of St. Mary Magdalene, raised around 1700 and used ecumenically today, crowns the top where a village of the same name once stood, cleared in the 17th century on the orders of Albrecht von Wallenstein, the duke who made nearby Jičín his seat. The 14th-century Church of All Saints, rebuilt in 1614, still stands at the hill's foot. The cone has been protected since 1980 for its heat-loving flora, which clings directly to the exposed volcanic rock.

Zebín je přírodní památka a zároveň výrazný kuželovitý neovulkanický kopec (399 m n. m.) vytvořený z komínové brekcie, vypreparované z křídových slínovců. Tato čedičová kupa se nachází v Jičínské kotlině asi půl kilometru západně od Valdic a přibližně 2 km severovýchodně od Jičína (na jeho katastrálním území). Na jejím vrcholku stojí barokní stavba nyní ekumenické kaple sv. Maří Magdaleny z roku 1700.
