Privacy Policy

1. Controller. Jakub Foglar, Czech Republic. Contact: jakub@jakubfoglar.com.

2. Karoo extension. The extension works without an account and uses a random device identifier that is not linked to your identity. To find places along your route it sends the loaded route to Waybook’s servers; with Nearby enabled it also sends your current position. During the beta the extension may send diagnostic data (application events, errors, and position at the time of an event) used solely to maintain the app. Diagnostics can be disabled in Settings; the extension works without them.

3. Accounts. An account is required only to save routes. Data held: email address, display name, handle and previous handles, routes and collections, sign-in method, and the date of any marketing consent. No passwords are stored. Signing in with Google provides your email address and name. Legal bases: performance of the Service; consent, for marketing email, which is optional and may be withdrawn at any time on the account page; legitimate interest, for security and abuse prevention.

4. Cookies and local storage. One strictly necessary cookie maintains your session. Unsaved routes are stored locally in your browser. Usage statistics are aggregate and cookie-free, without personal identifiers. IP addresses are used transiently for rate limiting. No tracking cookies or advertising identifiers are used.

5. Recipients. Service providers for hosting, database and authentication, and email delivery process data on Waybook’s behalf. Personal data are not sold and are not shared for advertising.

6. Retention. Account data are kept until you delete the account, which removes them from live systems immediately; backups expire within their retention period. Extension diagnostics are retained for the maintenance of the app and deleted on request.

7. Your rights. Access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. Routes can be exported as GPX at any time; the account can be deleted on the account page. Complaints may be addressed to the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ).
