Le Buzz Caffe is a breakfast-and-lunch café with a full espresso bar that has served Tucson since 1996, roasting its own coffee and baking its own pastries in house. It's known for scones, quiche, and sandwiches, drawing a weekend brunch crowd. The Tanque Verde location, at the foot of the Mount Lemmon climb, is a well-known cyclist hangout, with road riders filling its dog-friendly, misted patio before and after rides. It opens at 6 a.m., early enough for a pre-ride coffee.
Le Buzz opened in September 1996, when Dennis and Margaret Hadley, transplants from Los Angeles, set out to recreate an Italian neighborhood espresso bar in the desert. This Tanque Verde address, in the Madera Village shopping center, was their original location, and Margaret has run it on her own since Dennis died in 2012. The crowd goes beyond cyclists too, drawing hikers headed into nearby Sabino Canyon and local families out for breakfast. A Mount Lemmon Omelette on the menu nods to the climb that made the place a landmark for local riders.
