Mt. Lemmon Cookie Cabin is a family-run log-cabin bakery in Summerhaven, at the top of Mount Lemmon, operating since 1990. It's known for oversized, hand-made cookies plus pizza, chili, and hot drinks like coffee and cider, served in a cozy cabin interior and on a large outdoor patio. For cyclists, it's the classic reward at the summit of the Mt. Lemmon climb, a well-known stop where riders refuel with a cookie on the patio before descending.
The Cookie Cabin almost didn't survive to become a summit tradition. The 2003 Aspen Fire burned through Summerhaven and took the original building, a shack Vic Zimmerman had opened in 1990 as Cabins and Cookies, selling cookies alongside a few rental cabins. He rebuilt and reopened in 2004 under the current name, with a kitchen twice the old one's size. What hasn't changed is the scene at the top: descend from Windy Point or grind up from the desert floor on the Catalina Highway and the patio fills with riders in kit, cookie in hand, before the run back down. The pizza gets less attention than the cookies but comes off the same stove.
