Presta Coffee Roasters

Café · Tucson & the Sky Islands

Checked

Presta Coffee Roasters is a Tucson specialty coffee roaster, with this location inside Mercado San Agustín, an open-air market on the city's west side. Roasting in small batches since 2014, its name nods to the presta bicycle valve, a wink to founder Curtis Zimmerman's own love of cycling. The courtyard and patio seating regularly fill with kitted-out cyclists, and it sits along the route out toward Gates Pass, making it a natural coffee stop before or after a ride.

Founder Curtis Zimmerman spent years racing bicycles internationally before he ever roasted a bean, and it was the slow, conversation-first cafes he found abroad that set the course for what Presta became. He brought that idea home to Tucson, starting Presta as a small coffee cart inside a local hospital before growing it into a full roastery. The Mercado San Agustín location became the flagship, a full-service coffee bar anchoring the market's food-and-drink row. Presta roasts in small batches and works directly with growers and importers, running washed, natural, and honey-processed lots alongside a rotating cast of more experimental ones. From that single cart it has grown into a small local chain across Tucson, all roasted under the same program.

What you see

White geometric tile lines the coffee bar inside the market's plant-filled interior, with tall glass Kyoto-style towers slow-dripping cold brew behind the counter.
