Blaise Museum - Kingsweston Roman Villa
Bristol
This late-third-century Roman villa was uncovered in 1947 when workers building the Lawrence Weston estate cut through its walls, and excavation ran until 1950. It holds two original mosaic floors, an underfloor heating system and the only Roman bath suite found in Bristol. A skeleton with skull and shoulder injuries, found beneath one mosaic, suggests a violent death. It opens for pre-booked tours and events in spring and summer.
