Hors Catégorie

Café · Girona

Checked

Hors Catégorie is a cycling-themed cafe and restaurant in Girona co-founded by Dutch professional cyclist Robert Gesink. Its walls are hung with signed La Vuelta a España jerseys and bikes, and it welcomes cyclists still muddy from a ride, with races streaming on the TVs, specialty coffee, and bike parking inside.

A booth inside is painted to look like a velodrome track, tucked among the hanging bikes and signed jerseys. The kitchen leans surprisingly healthy for a cycling cafe: Buddha bowls, Thai curry, and a vegan burger regulars rate among the best in the city, alongside vegetarian, vegan, and celiac-friendly options. Coffee is specialty grade, paired with craft beer and cold-pressed juices, and the room stays lively as bike races play on the televisions. Robert Gesink opened the place in autumn 2018 and later added a second Hors Categorie in Andorra, another winter training hub for the pro peloton.
