Rifugio Da Aurelio is a wood-built mountain restaurant at 2,175 metres, near the top of Passo Giau, opened in 1970 by Aurelio Dariz and run today by his son Gigi. The kitchen leans on wild herbs and forest flavours, backed by a cellar of over 600 wine labels, in a fireplace-warmed, all-wood dining room. It sits about two kilometres below the summit, on the Maratona dles Dolomites' sixth and steepest climb, a natural stop for riders on the way up or down.
