Rifugio Scoiattoli stands at 2,255 metres beside the Cinque Torri towers, built in 1969 by mountain guide Lorenzo Lorenzi and still run by his family, named for the Scoiattoli climbing group formed there in 1939. It serves rustic mountain cooking, snacks and homemade cakes from a panoramic terrace walled in glass, looking straight onto climbers on the towers. Hikers, climbers and cyclists reach it by the 5 Torri chairlift from Bai de Dones, about ten minutes up.
