The collegiate church of Saint Candidus counts as the most important Romanesque building in Tyrol and the Eastern Alps. Under its dome a fresco cycle has survived from the 13th century, along with a sculpture of the same age.
The Benedictine monastery at Innichen was founded in the 8th century. Its collegiate church is dedicated to Saint Candidus. That church was rebuilt in the 12th and 13th centuries into the Romanesque building that stands today. A 13th-century sculpture and a fresco cycle from the same age survive inside, the frescoes covering the dome.
