Checked

Lahofer Winery, based in Dobšice near Znojmo, is one of the Czech Republic's largest wine producers, farming over 500 hectares of vineyards. Its striking 2020 building is known for a wave-shaped, walkable roof used as a summer amphitheatre, a modern cellar with a design bar, and a terrace overlooking the vines toward Austria. A marked cycling trail from Suchohrdly leads directly to the winery, which also sits at the end of the "Po stopách Napoleona" wine trail, open daily through summer.

LAHOFER doesn't just sit beside a good ride, it runs one: since 2022 the winery has organized its own amateur road race out through the vineyards and hills around Dobsice and Suchohrdly, and a dedicated path was built specifically to bring riders in from neighbouring Suchohrdly. Inside, under the poured-concrete vaults of the tasting cellar, a large mural called Vrstvy (Layers) by the painter Patrik Habl takes its banded colours straight from the soil profile of the vineyard outside. The building, by the Brno studio CHYBIK + KRISTOF, was a finalist for the 2021 MIPIM Awards, a rare distinction for a winery. LAHOFER itself traces back to 2006, when it took over as successor to the older Prvni znojemska vinarska company.
