Founded in 2002 by a group of friends, the club grew from a small space into a three-floor venue whose steampunk interior of gears, pipes, and machinery was built almost entirely by the Cross Club team themselves from trash metal and other waste material. Cross Café opened inside that same DIY industrial shell in 2009, serving freshly roasted coffee and daily kitchen specials from 2pm to 2am, with a courtyard buffet running from 9pm until close. The venue's inventive reuse of scrap and its committed underground spirit earned it a spot among The Guardian's 25 best venues in Europe in 2014.
