Karlštejn Castle, founded by King Charles IV in 1348, is a Gothic stronghold built to guard the Imperial Regalia, Bohemian crown jewels, and holy relics. Its massive towers dominate the skyline above the Berounka River valley and draw more visitors than almost any other Czech castle.

Karlštejn Castle (Czech: hrad Karlštejn; German: Burg Karlstein) is a large Gothic castle in Czechia, founded in 1348 by King Charles IV. It served as a place for safekeeping the Imperial Regalia as well as the Bohemian crown jewels, holy relics, and other royal treasures. Karlštejn is among the most famous and most frequently visited castles in the country.
